Schenectady County Public Works Garage Building and Sign Shop Project

Project Description

SCOPE:

The Schenectady County Public Works Garage Building and Sign Shop Project is a comprehensive capital improvement initiative designed to modernize and enhance the County’s operational infrastructure. Located at the Public Works facility on Kellar Avenue, the project involved site preparation, ground improvements, and the construction of a new pre-engineered metal building that will serve as a centralized hub for vehicle storage, maintenance operations, and in-house sign fabrication.

This new facility is purpose-built to support the County’s day-to-day public works functions, integrating dedicated workspace for sign production alongside efficient storage and garage areas for municipal vehicles and equipment. The scope includes site preparation and soil improvements to ensure long-term structural performance, as well as the full build-out of modern systems—structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection—creating a durable, high-functioning environment tailored to operational needs.

Delivered through multiple prime contracts, the project reflects a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to public infrastructure development. With an emphasis on quality construction, regulatory compliance, and workforce inclusion—including MWBE participation and prevailing wage requirements—the project underscores Schenectady County’s commitment to investing in resilient facilities that improve service delivery and operational efficiency for the community.
