Jersen Construction served as General Contractor for the construction of a 66,200-square-foot buffer building at the Irving Consumer Products facility in Fort Edward, New York. The project represents the first phase of a broader site expansion aimed at improving operational efficiency and supporting future growth.

The building was designed to support warehousing and forklift operations for large paper roll storage, allowing the facility to consolidate materials on-site and significantly reduce trucking, fuel consumption, and operational waste.

Due to challenging subsurface conditions, the structure is supported on a deep foundation system consisting of over 400 7-inch diameter micropiles, totaling approximately 19,000 linear feet of drilling. This approach ensured long-term structural stability while accommodating site constraints and existing infrastructure.

Strategically located between two existing buildings, the structure integrates seamlessly into the active campus without impacting site elevations along Broadway. The building remains under 40 feet in height, maintaining compatibility with surrounding operations while maximizing usable interior space.

Jersen self-performed all sitework, concrete, and metal panel installation, allowing for enhanced quality control, schedule certainty, and efficient coordination across critical scopes of work.

The project required close collaboration with the Village of Fort Edward, Washington County Sewer District, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to address legacy subsurface conditions and meet all regulatory requirements.

The completed facility enhances on-site logistics, supports more sustainable operations, and establishes a strong foundation for Irving’s continued growth at the Fort Edward campus.
